MIAA All-State Outdoor Track & Field Championships
Westfield State College - 6/5/2010
Xaverian Senior John Bleday caps a stellar four years at Xaverian High School with the MIAA State Title in the outdoor 2 mile in 9:04!
Bleday, a 4:10 miler and a 2-time indoor mile state champion, dropped his PR from 9:24 to 9:13 at Division I champs and again to 9:04 for the state championship win. In an exciting race, the second mile of the 2 mile was run in 4:24 and the final 400m finished in 58 seconds. The top seed in the 2 mile, John Murray of Shrewsbury, gave John everything he could handle as both athletes ran to their personal bests, nearly missing Alberto Salazar's meet record.

Led by Bleday, four Emerging Elites athletes achieved All-State status, placing top 8 in the state. Congratulations!
Hopkinton JR Kellie Lodge ran an incredible 35-second PR to place 4th in the girls 2 mile in 11:01. Alison Lanois, JR from Hamilton-Wenham finished 5th in the girls 1 mile. Jeff Brown, a senior at Medfield who is headed to Rice University in the fall, ran 1:57 for 8th place in his first all-class meet.

On a warm Friday afternoon John Bleday led every step of the 8 lap race capturing the 2 mile Division I title. Nick D’Agostino led off for the Boston Latin School Wolf pack in the 4x800 relay and Sarah Foster anchored for Lexington in the same relay.
