About

Growing up I played a variety of sports. From 1st grade through my freshman year in high school I played year-round town and club soccer and lacrosse. My freshman year in high school I played on my school's soccer and varsity lacrosse teams. In the winter time, I played town and travel basketball and skied whenever I had time. Besides sports I really enjoy baking desserts, travelling, surfing, and spending time with my friends and family.

After running indoor track her freshman year, Charlotte had a breakthrough season of track her sophomore year. During her sophomore indoor season, Charlotte broke 2:20 for 800m and 3:00 for 1000m and lowered her mile PR to 5:02. Charlotte was the MIAA Division 2 State Champion in the Mile. Charlotte also qualified and ran a few events at NBNI to get her first experience racing at nationals.

Looking forward to her sophomore outdoor season, and her first spring not playing lacrosse, Charlotte set her sights on racing her first high school outdoor track season. Charlotte was invited to race at the Bay State Running / HOKA Invitational Mile, and not wanting to waste the opportunity to race in a fast, talented field, Charlotte competed her way to her first sub-5:00 mile, running 4:59.50. She followed this up by running 4:57.89 at the Bay State Conference Championships, her second time going sub-5:00 in the month of May.

On the merits of her cross country and track success, combined with her overall athleticism, Charlotte was selected to compete for Team USA at the International U18 Mountain Running Cup in Annecy, France on Saturday, May 27. In her first mountain race of her life, Charlotte raced her way to 8th overall and helped secure Team USA’s silver medal team, finishing only one point behind Team Spain.

Fresh off her trip to Annecy, Charlotte returned to Massachusetts to race in the MIAA Meet of Champions. Racing the 800m from the unseeded section, Charlotte ran a sparkling 3 second PR of 2:15.44, fast enough for second place overall. Excited by her fitness, Charlotte also raced the mile at the MIAA Meet of Champions, lowering her mile PR another 2 seconds to 4:55.89, again for second overall.

To tune-up for NBNO, Charlotte raced the Scholastic Girls Mile at the Adrian Martinez Classic on Saturday, June 10, capturing first place in 4:59.52, her fourth consecutive sub-5:00 mile of the season. After she wrapped up exams, Charlotte hit the road to Philadelphia for NBNO to race the Rising Stars 800m and Championship mile. The mile was first up on Saturday night and with the delays in the meet schedule, Charlotte ended up racing after 11pm and ran 5:05.82.

Charlotte was eager to take on more trail racing and at the encouragement of her Team USA teammates, Charlotte went to Salida, Colorado for the 2023 National High School Trail Championships. Covering 5.4 miles and topping out at 7,558ft, with lots of switchbacks, technical ascents and fast descents, Charlotte was eager to take this race on to check her summer fitness. Charlotte placed fifth overall in 39:40 in only her second trail race and cemented her love for running on the trails.

Charlotte had a minor setback in fall of her junior year when she broke a bone in her foot. Anyone who knows Charlotte understands that she does not just handle adversity, but she thrives when presented with a challenge. She focused on cross training and was determined to come back for indoors.

Opening up at the BU Terrier Classic, Charlotte posted a solid 4:57.37 to pick right back up by posting a sub-5:00 mile and a 5 second indoor mile PR in her first race back. Charlotte went on a tear for her mini-indoor season. She won the Bay State Conference Championship in the mile (4:59.23) then followed that up by winning both the MIAA Indoor Division 2 Championship in the mile (5:00.44) and the MIAA Indoor Meet of Champions in the mile (4:56.35) for a new indoor mile PR. Fresh off earning her first MIAA All-State Mile Champion honors, Charlotte set her sights on the girls mile at NBNI and raced her way to a new lifetime mile PR of 4:55.80, finishing 14th overall.

With the indoor season behind her, Charlotte’s junior outdoor season was a season to remember as she wanted to gain experience racing outside Massachusetts and get adjusted to racing well while traveling. Excluding dual meets, Charlotte’s season opener was the girls mile at Penn Relays where she set a new lifetime PR in the mile of 4:55.16. She took that momentum to 2 meets in New York: racing her first 3200m at the Loucks Games for a solid 10:35.39 for fourth overall in her event debut and then competing in the Trials of Miles Girls Scholastic Mile at Icahn Stadium for a new lifetime PR of 4:53.38.

Charlotte returned to racing in Massachusetts for the championship season and crushed her final five races before focusing on returning to Franklin Field for NBNO. In her final five races in Massachusetts, Charlotte posted a new 800m PR of 2:14.23 at the Bay State Conference Championships, then she won both the mile (4:54.56 in a new lifetime PR and meet record) and 2 mile (11:08.08) at the MIAA Division 2 Championships, then switched to the 800m (2:13.22 in a new lifetime PR) and mile (4:51.13 in a new lifetime PR) at the MIAA Meet of Champions. Over the course of the championship season, Charlotte won 2 MIAA Division 2 titles and set four PRs in 5 races.

All that was left for junior outdoor season was NBNO in Philadelphia. Charlotte went all-in on the Championship Mile and raced her way to a new lifetime mile PR of 4:50.43, tantalizingly close to breaking the 4:50 mile barrier. This was Charlotte’s second consecutive New Balance Nationals where she set her lifetime PR in the mile after racing her way to 4:55.80 at NBNI in March and then 4:50.43 at NBNO in June. Charlotte wrapped her junior outdoor season up by racing the Championship 800m at NBNO in 2:15.58. Charlotte’s consistency in her ability to improve throughout the season and race her best in the post-season will serve her well heading into her senior year at Wellesley High School.
